Cheryl Strayed is the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling memoir WILD, the New York Times bestsellers TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS and BRAVE ENOUGH, and the novel TORCH. Her books have been translated into forty languages around the world. WILD was chosen by Oprah Winfrey as her first selection for Oprah’s Book Club 2.0. The Oscar-nominated movie adaptation of WILD stars Reese Witherspoon as Cheryl and Laura Dern as Cheryl’s mother, Bobbi. The film was directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, with a screenplay by Nick Hornby. Strayed’s essays have been published in The Best American Essays, the New York Times, the Washington Post Magazine, Vogue, Salon, The Sun, Tin House, and elsewhere. Strayed is the cohost, along with Steve Almond, of the WBUR podcast Dear Sugar Radio, which originated with her popular Dear Sugar advice column on The Rumpus. Strayed holds an MFA in fiction writing from Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. She lives in Portland, Oregon.

Bree Poort

Bree Poort is well-known for both her work in art and yoga. Her beautiful pieces of work are inspired by the coastline of Hawaii. Since 2016 Bree has more than 300 pieces that have been exhibited in galleries and cafes, as well as placed in homes internationally. For our retreat she will be leading a watercolor workshop. She will direct and encourage the group to paint with the colors that inspire each individual. Bree will also be leading our morning yoga. She has a unique and artistic style that will leave each person feeling refreshed and centered to start their day. All levels of yoga are welcome in Bree’s class. In Bree’s second workshop each retreat attendee will have an opportunity to create their own Mala beads. With each bead having a special meaning, attendees will be able to create a necklace truest to their unique and authentic self.

Brittany Gowan

Brittany Gowan is a New York native who believes it’s important to incorporate the natural world into one’s daily experience. Her love for both the city and nature led her to start the Instagram account @ihavethisthingwithurbanjungles, a platform that inspires plant related wellness and highlights her fellow plant people. Brittany will be leading our retreat meditation. Brittany’s fresh take on meditation incorporates nature and helps one to be fully present in their surroundings. Tulum’s jungle and the palms on the white sand beaches will be an ideal setting for her daily meditation.

Jeremy Chou

Jeremy Chou is a fine art film wedding photographer based out of Southern California, and documents weddings all over the world.  In 10 years, Jeremy has documented well over 200 weddings worldwide.  he has also positioned himself as one of the most sought after photographers in the wedding industry and has also taught workshops in Asia, Europe, and all over United States.
